The best Sunday roast in Leeds is at Whitelock's in Turk's Head Yard, off Briggate, for the proper pub version, The Cardigan Arms on Kirkstall Road for a neighbourhood pub roast, and Ox Club on The Headrow if you want it cooked over fire. Those three cover most moods. Below are the rest, city centre first and then the suburbs, with prices as published in mid 2026. Roasts sell out, so book, and if you cannot book, get there at 12.

Whitelock's and The Turk's Head, Turk's Head Yard

Whitelock's has been pouring since 1715, and on Sundays it does topside of beef, loin of pork, leg of lamb, or a roasted nut and herb loaf, from £17.95 to £22.95, served 12pm to 8pm. Ten cask hand pulls on the bar means you can match your roast to your pint. It is the classic for a reason.

Ox Club, The Headrow

Ox Club, in Headrow House, does Sunday lunch off its live-fire grill from 12pm to 7pm: rump cap of beef, a pear and caramelised onion porchetta, or smoked celeriac with squash, from £17.95 to £22.50. This is the most cheffy roast on the list and the gravy shows it.

The Victoria, Great George Street

The Victoria, at 28 Great George Street, reopened in December 2025 with its listed interiors restored, and does five Sunday options from £20 to £22.50: beef rump cap, chicken roulade, lamb gigot steak, pork tomahawk, or a kohlrabi tarte tatin. Served 12pm to 8pm.

More in the city centre

  • The Brunswick, 82 North Street. Beef topside, chicken supreme, porchetta, or a vegan seitan "chicken" roast. From £17.95. The beef Wellington for two is £29.50 each and needs pre-ordering by Wednesday.
  • The Adelphi, 3 to 5 Hunslet Road. A Victorian pub doing roast chicken, pork belly, rump of beef or a nut roast from £16.50, plus a sharing roast for two at £41.
  • The Midnight Bell, 101 Water Lane, Holbeck. By the canal, with beef, pork loin with crackling, chicken or nut roast, from £12. The cheapest good roast on this list.
  • Shears Yard, 11 to 15 Wharf Street. Dry-aged sirloin, porchetta-style pork belly and a smoked garlic and truffle hash brown, from £18, 12pm to 5pm.
  • The Whitehall, West Point, Whitehall Road. The refined option, with seven roasts from £22.95 to £42.95, including a beef Wellington, served 12pm to 8pm.
  • Banyan, 2 City Square. A bottomless roast at £41.95, with 48-day aged rump of beef, herb-roasted chicken or an onion and ale pie that can be made vegan. Served 12pm to 7pm. Pace yourself.
  • Brewery Wharf Tavern, Tetley's Brewery Wharf. Slow-roast topside, confit pork belly or a Wensleydale and red onion tart, from £17, with a kids' option.
  • Lamb & Flag, 1 Church Row. By the Minster, from £17, with a menu that changes regularly.
  • Chef Jono at V&V, 68 New Briggate. A five-course Sunday tasting menu with a roast beef course, £49, 12pm to 3pm. For when Sunday lunch is the occasion.

Kirkstall

The Cardigan Arms, at 364 Kirkstall Road, does beef topside, turkey with bacon, a nut roast and a Wellington with goats cheese, all at £17, from 12pm to 5pm. Up the road, Kirkstall Bridge Inn, at 12 Bridge Road on the River Aire, does roast chicken, slow-roast pork collar and rump of beef from £17, with a veggie Wellington or vegan turkey. Both pour Kirkstall Brewery beer, and both are a better Sunday than staying in.

Meanwood, Headingley and Chapel Allerton

In Meanwood, The Beck & Call on Stainbeck Road does beef, pork belly, lamb shoulder or a veggie haggis, from £16.95, and has a playground for the kids. The Myrtle Tavern on Parkside Road offers all four meats on one plate if you are that hungry. In Headingley, Heaney & Mill at 48 Otley Road does dry-aged beef, lamb rump and a cauliflower steak from £19, served until 8pm. In Chapel Allerton, The Mustard Pot on Stainbeck Lane serves its roast all day.

Roundhay, for something different

Cheesy Living Co, on Roundhay Road in Oakwood, does a fondue roast: Yorkshire puddings and vegetables for dipping into molten cheese, at £18.95 a head. Your nan would have questions. Your nan would also have seconds.

How to Sunday in Leeds

Book. Roasts sell out, and some kitchens stop serving at 5pm. If there is a vegan in the group, The Brunswick is the safe bet. For a walk first, do Kirkstall Abbey and then the Bridge Inn. Prices and menus here come from the Leeds-List Sunday lunch guide, reviewed in May 2026, and the Leeds-List pub guide, so expect the odd change.
