The best cheap eats in Leeds are in Kirkgate Market, where a thali at Manjit's Kitchen or a curry goat at Jenny's Jerk Chicken costs about £8, and on Mill Hill, where Bundobust's small plates start at under a fiver. Add pizza slices at Belgrave Music Hall and a few Thai lunch deals on Vicar Lane, and you can eat very well in this city for under a tenner. Prices below were published in early 2026, so allow for the odd rise.

Kirkgate Market

Kirkgate Market, on Vicar Lane, is the cheapest good lunch in Leeds. Head for the Market Kitchen street food area.

  • Manjit's Kitchen. Vegetarian Punjabi food. A two-curry thali or a paneer tikka flatbread for £7.50.
  • Jenny's Jerk Chicken. Curry goat or brown beef stew for £8, burgers for £7 and a jerk chicken salad for £5.
  • Mr Mackerel. A fish sandwich for £6, or six chicken wings with rice or chips and salad for £8.
  • Banh & Mee. Banh mi for £6.50, fried noodles for £7.50 and pho from £9.50.
  • Fat Annie's. Fully vegan. Hot dogs from £5.95 and burgers from £6.50.
  • Amazing Gyoza. Chicken katsu curry don for £7.50 or a gyoza bento for £10.
  • Sweet Saeeda. In the 1981 Hall. A Tunisian breakfast for £8.50, or a loaded sandwich with chips and a drink for £8.
  • O'délices D'appo. Coconut chicken curry with rice for £9, or five vegetarian pastels for £6.50.

Pollini's does big pizza slices and Istanbul Bakery does falafel and shawarma sandwiches, both at market prices. Finish with a £1.99 doughnut from Karpaty, the Polish bakery at the back of the 1904 Hall. The banana fudge cake is also a strong move.

Bundobust, Mill Hill

Bundobust, at 6 Mill Hill, does vegetarian and vegan Indian street food with small plates from £3.75, and dishes like paneer tikka and chole saag up to £8.50. The weekday lunch express, two dishes, is £11.25, and the beer is very good.

Belgrave Music Hall

Belgrave Music Hall, on Cross Belgrave Street, has two cheap options under one roof. Dough Boys sells pizza by the slice from £4.20, with a half-price slice offer at certain times. It is pretty much the first thing you see when you walk in, and there is a condiment station with garlic oil, parmesan and hot sauce, so load up. The vegan What's the Quack? slice is better than its name. Patty Smith's does burgers from £8.95 and a £5.95 saver menu from Sunday to Thursday.

City centre lunch deals

  • Thai Aroy Dee, 120 to 122 Vicar Lane. Curries and pad thai from £8.95, or two courses for £10.95 from midday to 5pm.

Headingley and beyond

I am Doner at 23 Otley Road does kebabs from £7.49. In Horsforth, Scoffs at 86 New Road Side does a Macscoffin sandwich for £6.

How to eat cheap in Leeds

Do lunch, not dinner: the best deals in Leeds run in the daytime, and Kirkgate Market stalls mostly close by 5pm and on Sundays. Go to the market first, look at everything, then choose. Pair a £7.50 thali with a £1.99 doughnut and you have had a better lunch than most people in this city, for under a tenner. The Leeds-List cheap eats guide keeps the prices up to date, and the Kirkgate Market stall guide has opening hours for each stall.
